Country is cool, according to California's Beachwood Sparks. The band, one of the new frontrunners on the burgeoning alt-country music scene (think Wilco, Whiskeytown, and the Jayhawks) is a little bit jangly, a little bit twangy, and more than a little unique. Overall, they're a rich aural blend, with a sound that may make fans of the Flying Burrito Brothers, Gram Parsons, the Eagles, and Fleetwood Mac nostalgic. The Sparks' country flavor is mixed with a healthy dose of pop sensibility, just to keep things current. Beachwood Sparks' members all grew up in Southern California, soaking up the region's spectacular natural beauty and multi-layered musical history. The boys honed their chops playing in indie-rock outfits like Further, Strictly Ballroom, and the Lilys, before coming together to record their self-titled debut.
